ORIGINS<\/h2>\n

The village of Sint-Denijs is located in South-West-Flanders, between the Scheldt and the Lys. This sub-municipality of Zwevegem, with its sloping \u201chumps and bumps\u201d, welcomes you with panoramic views and a rich agricultural history. A relief from the hustle and bustle of nearby urban areas such as Lille and Kortrijk.
\nAs stated in Sint-Denijs’s land register, Beerbosch used to be an area of Sint-Denijs in the 19th century. Beerbosch, locally pronounced \u201cbeir(g)bos\u201d, referring to \u201cberg\u201d (=mountain) and “bos” (forest). A trained eye can easily recognize this typical landscape.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][dfd_single_image image=”2295″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_spacer screen_wide_spacer_size=”20″ screen_normal_resolution=”1024″ screen_tablet_resolution=”800″ screen_mobile_resolution=”480″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_single_image image_size=”custom” image_width=”80″ image_height=”80″ image=”2460″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

TERROIR<\/h2>\n

A result of this location is the condition of the soil, consisting of clay, loam, pebbles of polished flint “= chailles” and ferrous green marl deeper down, all contributing to this terroir wine’s distinct character. A grapevine does not have the ability to directly absorb minerals, aromas and flavors from the earth. The flint aromas are reflected in the wine because the lack of nitrogen in the flint soil, which can lead to smoky aromas.<\/p>\n

Only traditional Vitis Vinifera have been planted, i.e. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Gamay, Merlot and Gewurztraminer. This choice of grape varieties involves a complex cultivation and a lower crop yield in our Belgian climate but there is deliberately opted for taste and quality.<\/p>\n

The vineyards on the estate have been arranged according to the classic French principle of the single Guyot, with the fruit zone close to the ground, encouraging the ripening process. After harvesting and vinification, the wine rests in the cellar and is given the opportunity to reach its full potential.<\/p>\n

The vines in the field are accompanied by some rare wild birds, including the marsh harrier and the cuckoo but also birds of prey, as well as other animals such as rabbits and hares. A few moments are enough to understand this wonderful connection between wildlife and landscape.<\/p>\n

Veerle Verrue<\/h4>\n

Veerle Verrue was born on May 15, 1987 and is the daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter of farmers. After obtaining a Biosciences degree at university, she became a qualified winegrower \/ winemaker in 2021.
\n\u00abThe wine is always the product of a collaboration between the winegrower and the cellar master. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Arne Pannecoucque<\/h4>\n

Arne Pannecoucque has a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering, but helped out in West Flemish vineyards while he was still studying. Together with Veerle he became a certifed winegrower \/ winemaker. this engineer is anything but a couch potato and gladly dons his vinedresser’s outfit as often as he can.<\/p>\n

OUR AMBITION<\/h2>\n

Veerle’s grandparents started a farm on the property. Later on, Veerle’s parents ran a strawberry farm for many years. Their passion for agricultural culture is now reflected in the exclusive Hereford cattle that reside on the domain.<\/p>\n

No \u201cgarage wines\u201d are being produced here, but rather “niche wines”, the progress of which is being measured with each vintage. All this to whet the enthusiast’s appetite to try these extremely refined West Flemish wines.<\/p>\n

A modern vinification building was installed in 2019 and in its extension a second building to store the agricultural equipment.<\/p>\n

In 2020, installation of a cellar where the wine barrels rest at a constant temperature and humidity.<\/p>\n

In 2023, construction of a second, unique, tasting room.<\/p>\n
